I/O Error in IMG Burn - Help!

This is the first in a group of movies where I am receiving this error. It is a new movie. I processed it just like all my movies. First ran it through DVD HD DEcrypter, then through DVD Shrink then I started burning with IMG Burn and then get the error.

Here is the error message:

According to the log it burned successfully.
Do not use verify,as long as the DVD plays it's ok.
BTW:your NEC is old and slow,it may be time to retire it.

the media you're using isn't good quality,Disc ID: OPTODISC-R16-00
before buying a new dvd burner get some VERBATIM DVD MEDIA to use and if you get the same errors then it's time to buy a new dvd burner as MOVIEGEEK suggested.

The error is giving you a heads-up on a problem you're having...namely your 8x drive is burning 16x media at 2.4x, which is the only speed the drive says it can burn that media at. The drive's current firmware apparently doesn't have a write strategy for the media, and is falling back to the generic "gamble" write strategy, which is very unlikely to produce a good burn...if it works at all.

If you want to continue using that drive, you should check the system manufacturers website for your computer to see if they have updated firmware for the drive...or use older media (4x or 8x) that might have a valid write strategy in your current firmware.

To be honest, a new drive is much more likely to give you good performance with newer media like you have (and dual layer if you felt the urge). I just got a samsung sh-s202j from newegg for $24 with free shipping, so it isn't expensive...and it would make your burning much easier and trouble free.

MOVIEGEEK was right. The movie plays just fine so I guess it works even when it says it doesn't.

I would try the Verbatims but when it seems to work fine on 90% of the movies I burn then I think I will stick with the stack I have until they run out then move to Verbatims.

I am sure that my drive is old as my computer is old too. I will have to look into a new one.

After you've used up your current supply of 16x media, you shouldn't buy any more 16x media (of any brand) while you're using your current drive. 16x media was designed for a different era of burners than the one you have, so your drive doesn't know how to burn it correctly. You should only use media your drive knows how to handle...in this case 4x or 8x media that was around when your drive was manufactured. As a bonus, not only will the older, lower speed rated media produce better burns, it costs less, and should actually burn faster.
