Please read the following and look at the logs. I used Imgburn to burn a DVD on my hard drive. I used a Philips DVD burner that is inside a laptop. The Philips burner is about a year old with about a dozen burns in its history. I burned 7 disks. I have attached 3 burn logs. All 7 disks reported by Imgburn to be burned successfully, however only two disks play correctly. Five of the disks had varying degrees of freezing and blocking EXACTLY at the same place in the video. (Video on hard drive is fine because 2 disks played perfectly and video on hard drive plays perfectly.) Even though I selected auto or x8, all disks burned at a slow speed (about x2) and then about a minute later kicked up to a higher speed (about x4) and about a few minutes later kicked up to a higher speed (about x6). IMPORTANT AND BAD: All 7 disks show 3 obvious zone burning rings that apparently correspond to when the burn speed kicked up.
I also am quite sure the freezing and blocking occurs at the point where the burning speed kicked up to a higher speed. (Two zone burn interfaces visible on the disk and two places where freezing occurs that seem to be at the same place where the zone burn interface is.)
My question is: Why does this Philips burner make a disk that has zone burn rings? How can I stop this from happening? I have another computer (Pioneer burner) that will sometimes change the speed during a burn, but I never see zone burn rings. ( I use the same type of blank DVD on the Pioneer and never see zone burn rings). These zone burn rings are clearly the reason that the disks are freezing, since the freezing seems to occur right at the zone burn interface.

The logs wont help because the burns all completed successfully. As far as Imgburn is concerned, all is well.
You can tell imgburn to restrict the speed of the burning to stop the burner having to ramp up. I restrict mine to 12 x on 16x discs and it works quite well. You may have to restrict your to something lower, as laptop burners are, frankly, rubbish.
I am also curious as to what discs you use. Are they quality media, or cheap crap ?Read my blog here.

You're using good media(TYG02) so my guess is the writer is defective. The reason it steps up in speed is because it is a Z-CLV writer, there's nothing you can do about it.
BTW:you might want to remove your name from GRAPH DATA unless you want everyone to know your name. -
Philips drives tend to like DVD+R media. Buy a external dvd burner like a SAMSUNG or PIONEER.
