Hi,
I'm having mixed results with DVD Shrink - the first DVD I tried was fine, can't remember what it was now, but since then I was also able use DVD Shrink with The Sixth Sense which worked perfectly using the re-authoring feature.
The problem I have is with Spiderman and now I have discovered the same problem with the UK release of Lord of the Rings (Original version, not the extended one).
I basically get the same cyclic redundancy error with both discs. Just for the record, I have been unable to use any of the other programs I have with Spiderman, I have yet to try using another program with Lord of the Rings.
Any ideas.... anyone???

I have ripped a DVD to my HD and was trying to shrink it but got an Idle error or something when it was remaking the VOB files. Anyone had that before?
-
I started using DVDshrink 2 days ago. When it works it is a work of art. But I have had 2 errors.
Independence Day: Prior to my use with DVDshrink I tried several methods involving DVD2AVI, smartripper, and TMPedit. At best I was able to get mismatched audio with the video. DVDshrink basically closed down and would not go further than the main page. I also tried decrpting to a HD and reading into DVDshrink; same prob.
Star Wars Attack Of the Clones: After editing, etc it went through all the encoding but crashed on remapping. I tried it twice.
I have actual error messages at home but I wondering if this program is like others, where some DVD just don't work.
If anyone has any solutions...
PS When this does work. SWEEEET! -
I've noticed something that may turn out to be important with the cyclic redundancy problem - it would seem that I only have this problem when ripping discs that are Region 2. I haven't had any problems on any Region 1 discs so far!!!
I'm going to try using my DVD burner to rip one of the affected discs tonight, I'll get back to you with the results.

UPDATE:
Its not gonna happen with my Sony burner used as a reader - It takes waaaaaaaay too long to rip using my Sony DRU-500AX, I will have a normal Sony 16x reader next week hopefully... I think I can wait till then to see if it resolves this problem.

I have the same problem w/ DVD shrink.. I think its because the discs are scratched/dirty. Any ideas?
-
Yeah the problem I believe is caused by scratched disc. I recommend you clean the hell out the disc, wipe it real good and try it again. It's really hit or miss at this point.
-
Yep! That did it. Windex and a paper towel, along w/ a CD cleaning cloth, did the trick perfectly.
-
I'm glad it did. Since i've been cleaning my disc prior to ripping I have not had any problems. So for everyone reading. THE ERROR MEANS...CLEAN YOUR DISK!! : ENJOY
