  1. I was using my computer like usually, downloading videos onto my second HD and such... but something strange happened. These downloads stopped... I went into "My Computer" and my second HD wasn't there!

So I restared and it was back. Phew. I have also been noticing extreme slow-downs (and my RAM is no where near full, 50%).

Perhaps my hard drive or IDE controller may be going out.

ALTHOUGH, if my second HD disappeared and my computer slows down, this may also involve the primary drive.

So maybe it's just my IDE controller.

Does anyone know what could possibly be going on?

It may be that the drive is failing or that the IDE pins and slots are dirty and dont provide enough contact.

    Bravoxena,
Have you, by any chance, enabled S.M.A.R.T. in your BIOS? Not that it will cure your problem, but it will warn you if a drive is starting to fail, and allow you to backup and replace. Your system will take a little bit of a hit, according to MB makers, but I wouldn't worry about it.
If you aren't afraid to open your box to check the cables, reseat them at all 3 connectors, reseat the power connectors also. You might go to the motherboard maker's site to DL and install the latest BIOS update for YOUR board. Just make sure you get the right ones.
From your other posts, you may still have to re-install XP (?). It does NOT require a wipe to re-install. You may, however, have a restore disk, which, damn them all, resets your machine to factory configuration. None of your installed stuff works, and some of the crap they install, and you may have gotten rid of, will be back, so square one.
If you do, in fact, have an XP disk, no problem, it will re-install without changing your settings.
Repost if you have any more problems.
