i've got a DivX rip of a movie, and i want to make it a DVD, so I came here and followed the DivX to DVD guide. to let u know what i did, i'll tell ya (gonna be a long post ):

1st. i got the DivX (.avi) and opened Virtual Dub and extracted the audio following the guide here on this site 2nd. I opened TMPGEnc (Version 2.59.47.155) and opened the wizard and selected DVD NTSC and followed the steps and started encoding from there.

now i got this *.m2v and a *.wav file. but in the wizard all it implied that i should of renamed it to *.mpg which i did but still came out w/ those 2 file types... what do can i do? is there a way so next time i encode a DivX file that i dont have worry about anything after (so that i can just end up with a *.mpg file)? Thanx for listening, and I hope yall can help me out here!

  2. It seems as if you left something out. When you use the wizard it should have asked you for a video file to encode and an audio file. You would load the avi file in the video section and the wav file in the audio section. The resulting film should have both audio and video and should have an mpg extension. It looks as though you only encoded the video and not the audio.

I don't do DivX but if you used the wizard in TMPGEncPlus and ended up with a .m2v and .wav file in step 5 of 5 you had to have the separate output file checked. To produce only a .mpg file uncheck the ES System separate output option in step 5 of wizard and end up with only a .mpg with both video and audio in one file.

  4. Doggiedaddy,
It seems as if MystaMax didn't encode the audio at all. From what he says in his post he started with a wav file and ended up with a wav file. By the way, do you think you and I are related? We seem to have the same last name.

1st off thanx to everyone who took to time to look @ my situation.

I did encode the DivX audio using Virtual Dub... and used that as my audio when converting (or attempting) my DivX to *.mpg to so i can then burn them with a authoring program.

I noticed when choosing an output file name under the field box, it says "Output video and audio as individual elementary streams". i'm assuming thats what you're talking about. but that box is greyed out. its unable to be selected. Then i noticed on the 1st page of the wizard (step 1) that the choices for audio are different in the guide from the one on my TMPGEnc. My choices were }CBR Linear Audio{ }CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2) }VBR Linear PCM Audio{ & }VBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2){. i chose another one (CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (Mp2) and when I got to step five of the wizard it allowed me to uncheck, "Output video and audio as individual elementary streams". and now i can save it as one file, the *.mpg file that i needed!! So this whole problem was caused b/c of a little audio selection on the 1st page of the wizard of TMPGEnc. i didn't even noticed that the one in the wizard was outdated. i'll be more careful next time. THANKS FOR YA HELP EVERYONE!
