In Europe, most DV camcorders don't have DV inputs as then they are classed as video recorders and liable for more duty! Therefore the camcorders are sold with their DV in's disabled and you have to buy a little widget to re-enable them - usually at a cost of 80 quid!

I bought a Lpt to DV i/o and was given some software called DV-in but the Instructions didn't tally-up with the software!,Despite reading my sony PC5e,the lead was only £20 and the software free from the gut/trader who sold me it.

Do they have some kind of brand name or they are just "home made" (no-name) products ? I think it is kind of dificult to help sombody with question like "I have some gadget and some software that doesn't work on some camcorder." Don't you think ?

  8. 20 quid sounds very cheap for this sort of thing. Maybe you've been ripped off.

Maybe i have but the device/lead reads my camcorder and the software is on numerous sites it's just the actual Instructions that are not quite right!,There is another piece of software called Iremote 7.0 that looks far easier and works of the same cable,But so far I can't find it in any downloads....looks like I'll have to get my wallet out!!

    Thanks mate!,
I've downloaded the DV-in software but the instructions I got mention a page 0D which doesn't appear on "dv-in "package that's where I'm confused yet it reads my camcorder from the lead supplied etc!

  12. You have been ripped off for sure, because you can do this very easy by yourself. I've enabled a Sony PC3e and it costed me about 3 euro and one hour.

Here are some websites, maybe these can help you out:
