I have taken Baldrick's suggestion that I can perhaps sharpen up my avi to dvd conversions by lowering the resolution. Currently I have an avi with resolution 608x256 and I wan to resize to 352 x 480. I need help with adding borders or cropping to keep the people from looking elongated. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

It would help if you told us what tool you are going to use? With tmpenc you only have to choose 1:1 and full screen(keep aspect ratio) under settings->advanced.

I'm going to use CCE2.5 with Avisynth 2.07. I like tmpge's 1:1 command. I would like to write a script or load a plug in that keeps 1:1 aspect ratio when lowering resolution. Also could you please refer me to place where I can see a list of DVD compliant resolutions so that I can experiment with differt sizes.

    Thanks in advance,
