geforce 2 problem

i have my geforce 2 for 4 months now

but 2 days i restart my pc and my geforce 2 makes wierd noises

i just reinstall my pc but no changes

what can i do about this

Video or sound noise?

If it's sound and you are sure that it's the video card is causing it then it can only be caused by the fan. Open the case (with the system off) and see if the fan is full of dust. If you have a cat or dog the hairs could get caught in the fan.

If the fan looks dirty then pull the card out and clean it.

If the card is not visibly dusty then I would guess the fan bearings are causing the problem. Take it back to your retailer for an exchange.

Some noise coming from the case can be misleading with noise bouncing off the case. Other possible noise sources include CPU fans and power supply fans or vibration when the case base is not stable or the case is not closed properly.

Im sure your G-Force 2 does not have a fan on the card, or else I would tell you to stop the fan with your finger while the computer is on. Try and isolate the noise to either the CPU Fan, power supply fan or case fan maybe. Other than that, that would be my troubleshooting tips. By the way why did you post this issue on this forum?

I take it then that how video card has a fan? No you don't want to remove it. Check to make sure you have a fan on the card first. If you do and the noise is still present. Try stopping the fan with your finger while sytem is on. If the noise stops then this is the problem. You'll need to find an after market replacment or replace the card. Did you follow the other recommendations posted by others? Please let me know what you find out.

Well the Chip on the card is going to get hot and under load will cause you problems if not eventual failure. The fan draws the heat away from the graphics chip. It needs something and soon. A G-force 2 is not an expensive card to replace, not like the ATI 9700 Pros that I run. Well good luck!
