VCD - Drive not ready!

I usually play VCDs in my PC either using Sthsdvd or Windows Media Player. They work fine. But recently I bought 2 VCDs which I am unable to play. Both Sthsdvd and WMP say "Drive not ready". But both the CDs are OK, there are no scratches etc...they are brand new. I even tried with WinDVD, Power DVD, Xing..etc...no success.

I recently aquired a VCD like that.. PC would not recognize.. works fine in DVD. probably some a**holes lame attempt to copy protect screwed them up
