  1. Not sure where this question belongs but...

Is there a utility that will take a snapshot of the opening dvd menu so I can print it to a DVD jacket?

I made a bunch of simple home movie dvd's with DVD Workshop and found some perfect DVD cases at dollarama (clear case 2 for $1 Canadian). It would be nice to print the simple template menus with the thumbnails of the video.

Or is this an extraction job for vdub or something?

  2. I found a template over at meritline.com that I could use in Microsoft Word. Haven't used it yet because of printer problems though.

  3. Well if you are using Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2, The menus are bmps that can be found under WInXP in "C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\My Documents\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\2.0\Working\BurnOther"

That makes it easy to do what you want to do... I suspect that the other Ulead products may do the same...

I'm on the 30 day trial myself...

    Cheers

it depends on how new your default dvd player prog you use in ya pc......like most new players you have the option to do a snap shot of whatever you see in your dvd player screen..........and thats it....save the snap-shot as a jpeg or bmp etc....and then import it to your dvd jacket printing program...........try the software from www.cdcovers.cc this is a good free printing tool

A little off topic but for your DVD B/U.I'm sure you could snap shoot with Power DVD and do the same with your DV.

You can also go to http://www.amazon.com or http://www.imdb.com/ search for the DVD you are B/U. Open the cover picture and save as a .bmp then use it however you want. Also imdb.com has a host of media photos from the production and advertisement posters. Personally, this is the only thing I use NERO for and this it can do well. In the cover designer choose >DVD>Insert>Paper choice>Data Becker Import the bitmap from Internet search and stretch to fit. Add any pictures from movie site even rating pictures from mpaa.org and print on glossy paper from COSTCO @ about .20 cents each by the 100 sheets. Use the Hollywood quality Supercase inserts [.35 cents] @ shop4tech. Not those crappy jewel cases but the big ones like the DVD rental places use. You can also make the disc covers with NERO but I use NEATO instead only because I got use to making CD disc covers with it and I hate change.

PS: If you have a scanner it is even easier to scan both the inserts and disc and just use the above mentioned programs. Honestly no one in my family can tell which one is the OEM. Great DVD Supercases for about 0.55 cents plus ink.
