tmpgenc freeze's on encoding no longer works

hi,
i trying convert a avi movie to dvd mpeg stream .m2v, i did it once and made a working dvd, i tried it again doing same steps but during the encoding the computer freezes and i have reboot and start again, im getting nowhere with it.
i've tried 3 different movies happens on all of them, and when it freezes it doesn't always freeze in the same place.
i've tried 3 different versions of the program and it happens on all of em, tried a different encoder program and same happens.
im using windows xp pro.

looked at tmpgenc's faq and no luck, any1 know how fix this?
p.s. tried clean reinstall of windows and no luck there either, o yea i got plenty of harddrive space to so thats not the prob

If you tried different encoders... it's most likely the movie file itself thats messed up. Try doing it to a diff file,see if that works. Or try increasing the direct show filter, it might work also

direct shows on 2 now everythins on 0 and one's on -2, i've put directshow on 4 see if it works

tried it and it still freezes, tried 3 different movies to convert 2 and it happens on all on them, im using a guide of doom9 conversion avi->dvd
could changing the main level, main profile of the encoding help anyway?
