  1. When I capture PAL format video. Everything works well. But when I capture an NTSC format video. The pictures is always BLACK and WHITE. I have tried a few different Capture card, PAL videos are fine and the NTSC format is always BLACK and White. The video in cards I used are Belkin VideoBus II, TV EXCEL Tv tuner, and Asus V9480/TVD video in graphic card. All of them capture PAL videos fine. But Black and White pictures for NTSC videos. I live in a Pal version country.
My Sanyo VCR can play NTSC videos on Pal TVs automatically. I do not know whats the problem is? Do I need to use another VCR or what??
By the way what's the best Video capturing program available. eg.Ulead Videostudio6, Abode Premier, MGI videowave.?

It sounds to me like one of the situations listed below:

    1. Although your VCR can play both PAL and NTSC tapes, it outputs only in PAL format

    2. Your VCR can output in PAL or NTSC but either it has to be manually changed in it's setup menus, or the automatic setting doesn't work properly with your capture devices. Try to manually set the output type to NTSC (when using with your capture device.)

    3. Your VCR can output in PAL or NTSC but it is not working properly.

For all three possibilities check the manual that came with the VCR.

A black & white capture on an NTSC video is usually a sign that the capture card is set to PAL while the VCR is streaming NTSC.

Make sure that your capture cards (and their drivers) support NTSC. When setting up for capture and when you select 'source' do you get a choice of PAL and NTSC or just PAL?
