  1. I am convering Divx files to Mpeg2 for burning on an SVCD. I select using the 16:9 NTSC on the Aspect Ratio, and it looks widescreen when playing using the DVD software on my computer, but when I put it in the player it is 4:3 cropped and I cant figure out how if it's the player or something else. When viewing the Mpeg2 file on a software player, it is 16:9 but has no spacing above and below. I've seen ready to burn disc images/cue/bin files that played in letterbox on a TV once burnt to a disc, but dont know how to get TMpegEnc to do that. I normally use VCDEasy to create the bin/cue images and Nero to burn them (Nero burns faster than VCDEasy).
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Glorfindel

  2. Anamorphic SCVDs don't really exist. x(S/C)VCD's all have a DAR of 4:3, so to display a 16:9 source on your SVCDs you have to letterbox your video.

This has certainly been my experience; if I use dvd2svcd to 'rip' a 16:9 DVD to SVCD, it actually inserts 'add border' statements to the avisynth script file. I see that within TMPG itself, it seems to 'force' a 4:3 setting on the output, even if you choose 16:9 as the input.
