  1. IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD A PARENTAL CONTROL TO A SVCD WITH
    AUTHORING PROGRAMS ?
    I MEAN YOU HAVE TO ENTER A NUMBER OR ANOTHER CODE ON THE MENUE-SCREEN TO CONTINUE PLAYING THE DISC.

    DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA ?

  2. there's some provision for 4 restriction categories, but those have to be implemented in the playing device... so this is 'client side security'

    you can emulate some kind of code entry with selection menues; but then you could always override it by turning PBC off and play the sequence track directly;

    you could put the controlled content into segment play items/... then this parts could be played only with PBC on... but this would only give you some security on standalones... you can always open the segment play items directly on a computer system...

    if SVCD would support strong encryption, then you could implement something usefull... but well, as we have seen it didn't work for DVDs either (due to a major design flaws...)

    so, there is no reliable content control system... and honestly, the only efficient parental control system is to physically lock up those SVCDs you don't want your children to watch...

    Why don't you just buy a box with a lock on it? Anything you come up with for software control is vulnerable.

    Have you tried to block a VCD with your player ?. On my Sony I can block upto 50 VCD/DVD disks. If I add one more the first is lost. This is all done in the player not on the disk. Each VCD is diffrent and each disk can be givn a diffrent lock/unlock number.

    This is slightly diffrent from the standard Parental control, but you may already have it without knowing

  6. Philips models as well contain child lock facilities. What brand and model do you own?

  7. I have a pioneer DVD that doesnt support SVCD and a no name that support all formats, both dont have parental control.
    Therefore i have to try to lock on the disc.

    I thought i can create a menue. To continue playing, player is waiting for input. Perhaps i can hide the numbers that someone has to press on the remote control for starting the chapters.

    Does anyone have an idea ?
