  1. I've successfully converted and burned a number of DVD movies form divx and xvid. I've been trying to convert an xvid film to dvd in tmpgenc. My first problem is that after I stip the wav out in virtual dub and then run the avi and wav through tmpgenc to end up with an mp2 and wav file i have lost all the sound. Even when i try to play the wav file on it's own n media player it's empty. The wav file that virtual dub output is fine however. Any ideas?

Secondly using the final stage of the tmpgenc wizard I try to set dvd films to take up 85% of the disc and let the application choose the most suitable bit rate. When i then try to author the dvd in MovieFactory 2 the file size is way over the permissible 4.7Gb. Is there a more reliable way to fill a disc? Perhaps there's a better application than moviefactory. At the moment I just set tmpgenc to fill half the disc and it seems to work.

    Any help much appreciated.

  3. Gary,

good idea on the dvd2one method, I'd not thought of doing that. When ever I've tried to import avi files (xvid or vidx) into moviefactory it errors with a messgae like "file type not supported".

My understanding is that tmpgenc is the only tool that imports divx and xvid movies prior to conversion to a dvd. Am i wrong here?

My usual method in moviefactory is to input the m2v file that tmpgenc outputs and then i 'replace the audio' with the wav file that tmpgenc outputs. i've not had any problems to date, not quite sure what's going on.

Again, any help much appreciated on this sound issue.
