Hi
I know its a subjective kind of thing but I'm wondering what is the lowest bitrate you can use to encode to MPEG1 and still get 'reasonable' quality.
I've encoded quite a bit above the standard 1150, and it seems that you only really notice the difference in quality once you've raised the bitrate a good bit above that level.
So you don't really notice, say, 1200 to 1300.
I'm wondering if it works the other way too. Would you really notice the drop to 1000 or 900?
Why would I want to do this - to get more film on less CDRs.
Kind regards
Alan

Like you said it really is a subjective thing.
My suggestion is to get a section of video about 10 minutes in length then encode each at a different bitrate getting lower each time. Take note of what bitrate was used for each segment than watch it on your DVD player until you find one you are satisfied with.
