I have a very weird problem. I did the svcd conversion of various movies lately and they work prety good on my dvd player JVC XV-N40. I just bought it last week and it is compatible with almost everything. It is a complete machine. My problem is that the cds that i have done this week, suddenly dont want to play on my standalone but they do play on my neighbor dvd player. When i try to play them i get the message NO READABLE DISK. Why is it that it plays on my friend dvd player but not on mine?? All the vcd or svcd that i did last week all worked good on my dvd player and still do, but the new ones dont. Why do they play on my friend dvd player? My dvd player is svcd and vcd compatible. Any reason for that problem??Thanks for your help.![]()

No i have not change cdr brand and did not change speed neither. I do burn at 32x, maybe it is to fast but it does not explain why some are good and others are bad.
What is weird is why there is some that works in my house and others dont? but they all play on my friend standalone? He has a 2 year old machine and mine is brand new.

Anybody know about my problem? I think it is a bit weird. Maybe someone had this problem before

well after reading your post,it sounds like there is some sort of error happening in your conversion process, and then of course it doesn't burn correctly.

Big thanks for answering, but why does it play on my friend standalone? This is where i dont get it. If something was wrong with me doing something wrong it would not play antwhere. That is why i found this very weird.

Need help, please. The reason i'm in a rush is that i would like to know if my dvd player is wrong. I maybe have to return it. Anybody knows anything about my problem?

Dont want to be to rude but why is it that nobody answer my question? Im i the only one with this problem? Just want to know if my dvd player is wrong. I had couple answers but why, if i do something wrong with the convertion, they all play on my friend dvd player? If i have a problem burning them they would not play on others standalone. I have beeing trying to get an answer for almost two days but noboday seems to know. Is there any other places where i can post to find an answer?

you got to have patience. stop being so impatient. nobody answers your question in ten minutes so you start wondering why nobody wants to help you? not everybody is online at the same time and this is not an instant messenger. just wait a while. it might take a while but eventually your question might be answered. stores do not have a two hour grace period for exchanges. so you still got some time.

Thanks conquest10 for your answer. If you look at my post you will see that i am not asking if my dvd player is VCD or SVCD compatible, i know it is. I dont want to be rude neither impatient but it seems that nobody reads the post. Please look at the few answers that i've got, why would i have a conversion problem and burning problem? I just dont get it! It says in my post that half of it will do play on my standalone but they all play on my friend, old dvd player. If i had a problem with conversion or burning, dont you think that they would not play att all? Sorry if i seem impatient but since yesterday morning i am trying to get an answer. Thanks again for your help

Not shure i understood your question. These are DIVX conversion. What i did is convert my divx files to SVCD then burn them. Some will play on my standalone but some will not. The mistery is that they all play on my friend dvd player. That is the problem.

i'm talking about the dvds your backing up. do they still play normally?

Conquest10 is talking about DVD's purchased from the store, do they still play?
-
Other original copy do work good but dont think you understood me. I did the conversion of some DIVX file, not dvd files. Divx file are not original.
-
yeah, but you do have the original dvds of the movies you converted from divx, right?

It seems that i am getting near to solve my problem. I did find out that the ones that dont want to play on my standalone are the ones that were not burned with a cue sheet. Anybody has a clue why??? Second, how do we make a cue sheet out of a file to be able to burn it after?

One reason you are getting few answers is that you are not giving any useful information on your process, therefore any possible answer would be no more than a guess.
The answer is obvious in the one piece of useful info you have finally given. There has been some change in your process wherein you are no longer using a cue sheet. Up until very recently you were the only person who knew this.
Understand that SVCD is a commodity which includes multiple variations, the slightest of which can, and does, affect playability. ANY CHANGE to the creation process may result in a disk which does not play on any given player, while another player may not be sensitive to this change.
If you had started by DETAILING the process which created a playable disk, and then doing the same for the process which does NOT create a playable disk (at least in your player), then the difference would almost certainly have been identified for you.
