Converting an xvid to svcd I read the guide but it does not tell me what kind of codec and where I can find it and how to install it help please.

I have used Nero to convert the avi xvid to svcd but the image turns of
    backward.

  2. If you are asking where you can get the xvid codec from. Then you need to go to.

    www.xvid.com

Do not use Nero to encode anything, it will look awful.
If you can be more specific about what you want to know you will get loads of help.

  5. I would use the tools section on the left find out what codec your specific file is and then install that codec only. Only insatll them as and when you need them whenever I have used packs I have always run into errors.

Get Gspot from the Tools section. It will tell you the required codec. 8)

I have heard of too many problems (conflicts!) when codec packs are used. hardcoreuss is giving good advice.
