  1. EVERY TIME I convert MPEG-2 to SVCD and MPG to VCD, I end up with the video and soung out of sync. I use NERO 5.5.9.9 to do the conversion. On occasion I get a message that asks if I want to re-encode- so I do. EVERY TIME I end up with the movie out of sync. Can any one help me on htis matter. I would really apppreciate it. Thanks

  2. Nero's conversion bites. Use tmpgenc and virtual dub. Extract the audio using virtual dub. Encode with tmpgenc, burn with nero. Check out the guides on the right of the screen.

Try just telling Nero to burn as a non-compliant VCD, SVCD, whatever. It wiill either have checked to tell you it's non, or will check, one or the other. I don't let it re-encode. It takes longer than the encode did in the first place, and you wind up with the crap you have.
Here I go again. Ever try DVDx? Love it. Super simple. Free. Etc.

  7. You did use the TmpGenc VCD or SVCD templates and not change anything didn't you??

If you use the stock templates I have never had Nero want to re-encode.

    Cheers

    Tboneit,
You're right, I forgot that in my favorite, DVDx 2.2, with VCDs I change the bit rates to fill up a second or third CD. I can't see the sense in 200meg on the extra CD at 1150 default, so Nero sees it as non-compliant, asks to re-encode, I click burn non-compliant, it does, they work in my Apex 1201. The higher I set the bit rate, the better they look, so I go to full disks.
MPEG2, now, does take a lot longer than MPEG1, twice as long, at least
