Anyone ever had this problem or know how to fix it.

I have never had it before in my A05 until I formatted and now I can't rip nothing.
    Same with my other drive

Try just 'playing' a DVD in the A05 (with a software player) - I think this message means that your DVD drive has no region set in it's RPC-2 firmware and so it can't rip the DVD as it's unsure if it's allowed to. By playing a normal DVD, it sets the region for the drive and will verify this with the disc next time you put one in.

PS - you can reset this with tools anyway (and set it to region 0 - All) and I believe that you get 5 chances to change it anyway.

But the weird thing is I have used the A05 before I reformatted and never had this error before.

As for the other drive I was testing it for a friend and now I can keep the drive so What am I to do?

  5. I get the same error message when using DVD Decrypter, but I am able to decrypt the movie, albeit very slowly. I have a rebadge NEC 1100A drive.

couple of things spring to mind on the 'try' list -

    1. delete the devices in device manager, reboot and let XP redetect them.
    2. Try an RPC tool to bypass the region checking (look in doom9 for the tools)
    3. Check the device access methods - ie PIO vs DMA - force them to the otehr to see if that makes any difference (long shot but ...)

    ?

  7. Hi,

I had the same error once. When i just had this burner installed i used it to rip a dvd it gave this message. No region had been selected then.

    I have two suggestions.
    1. Don't use your DVD-Burner as dvd-ripper.
    2. If you really must use the Burner as ripper flash it with this firmware :
    http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/DVR-105%20v1.30%20-%20RPC-1%20+%202xDVD-R%20+%2012xRip.zip
It makes the drive region free, lets you burn 1 speed dvdr's at 2 speed and removes the 2 speed max rip limit. So you can rip dvd's at 12speed

    Hope this helps.
