  1. I have captured a VHS tape using using my PCTV card. I used Power VCR Deluxe II 3.0 software and updated it using a patch from gocyberlink.com . I have set the capturing quality to MPEG1 (superior quality). After I have successfully captured it, I converted it to VCD(NTSC Film) format using TMPGEnc. Then burned it using the Nero software. But when I play it on my LG VCD player it doesn't produce any sound. Please help. By the way this is my PC specs when I captured it.

    Intel Pentium 4 1.7 GHz
    Intel D845BG motherboard
    256 MB PC2100 DDR
Leadtek Winfast Geforce 4 MX 440 64 MB DDR
    40 GB HDD Seagate 5400
    Pinnacle PCTV card
    Asus DVD E16 DVD-rom drive
    Asus 2410a CDRW drive

I hope someone can help me with my problem or provide me with some information on how to make it work.

Does the captured mpeg have sound, before you turn it into a VCD compliant mpeg with TMPGEnc? Can't you capture to VCD mpeg directly?

  3. The captured mpeg produced a sound before i converted it to vcd. I gave the copy of my converted video to a friend of mine and then he called up and said that when he played it on his VCD player it produced a sound.

I was just wondering, is the problem here not on the converted file or was it in my vcd player?

How large is KBPS for a standard vcd? maybe our player can't handle large KBPS of audio.

    What do you think?

  5. I used to have this problem when converting files. It would play on the player in the front room but not on the one in my bedroom it would have no sound. I found that the reason was cause the player in the front room was region free and the one in my bedroom was region 2 once I changed it to pal it worked fine and I hear all !!!!.

Is your player region free and if it is not is the file in question pal on ntsc or vice versa ?.

That is wierd. VCD is not in any way region marked. Could it be that you in the process if making your DVD player region free also updated the firmware? ...and regions and TV systems (PAL/NTSC) are not related, afaik. To boot, the thing that's the same in NTSC/PAL is the audio!

  7. I really can't figure out the problem yet. But I'm going to buy new computer parts this week I'm going to upgrade some parts of my PC

    Motherboard: Asus P4PE
    RAM: Kingston 512 Mb DDR333
Hard disk: Seagate 40 MB 7200 RPM
Sound Card: Creative Audigy (if possible)

I'll try to capture the video again using without using a built in sound card maybe this will help.

But I hope someone could help me out, because I'm a little bit confused of what to do next.
I'll will still be posting my results if I have captured it successfully.

  8. Hi guys, I think Im getting the hang of my problem. I tried capturing a video from a vhs (again) but this time it already played a sound when I played it in my LG VCD player using my new specs that I posted.

But there is another question, when recording I noticed that the captured sound is a little bit low. When I checked out all the volumes (in windows) it was set to full. Does the record volume on the speaker itself (hardware) affects the highness and lowness of the sound? Because when I record the VHS I've set the speaker volume to a little bit low.

Can somebody advice me. Thanks in advance guys!
