  1. I like the way the new DVDShrink works so far but now I want to know what you are using to burn the output files to DVD.

Reply here with just the program and version. Kinda like a quick poll.

I had to use IC7 w/ updates 1+2 to burn!

    What about you???

  2. I have used the program now on five DVD's and used RecordNow Max to burn with zero problems playing on the three different DVD players I have at home.

  3. I'm using Nero 5.5.10.15
Done 4 films so far no probs

  4. Burning the files (not image) in Nero - no problems.

But then I never have had any problems with Nero...

  6. I turn the compressed DVDShrink VOBS into an image file & burn using DVD Decryptor as it lets me burn at x1 speed..

Nero only lets me burn at x2.4 speed & it's not as reliable (using Verbatim DVD+R's).

  7. I use Nero version(s) 5.5.10.15 and recently upgraded to 5.5.10.20 and have yet to burn a coaster. Nero burned DVD-Rs play just fine on my computer and on my standalone (Panasonic DVD-RV32). I don't understand why it gets such a bad rap!? Maybe some folks should try upgrading to the latest version? Besides, no program is infallible.

I simplify things and burn using the Nero Express engine. Takes the guess work out and works everytime. Just pick the "DVD-Video Files" option, add the files, then burn.

I just DVD Shrink(ed) The Truth About Charlie and burned it to a DVD-RW for testing purposes. It loaded and played just fine on my dvd player. The quality is really good!

I've also used Nero to create an ISO image of DVD files and have burned the image with no problem using Nero.

    Hope this helps you out!?

    RecordNow Max 4.5

I used Nero, Instantcopy and CopyToDVD but I like RecordNow Max for its simple interface (copytodvd also has) but I just like the burn-progress bar and it's better compatible with dvdplayers and I haven't read about any problems using it.

  11. Many great responses to your question.

For a total free option use ImgTools to make the image and DVD decrypter to burn it. Both can be found in the tools section on left.

DVD2One and IC7 and PDITools to create files.
Nero to burn files using DVDVideo template.
    No issues.

I agree K2. Very cool to see what others are doing.

I like the DVDdecrypter idea but I think I'll wait until the author of DVDShrink implements the Target Image function he speaks of in his help file.

Gear Pro DVD 6 works fine with DVDShrink produced files and it is fairly fussy about what it will accept.

My initial views on DVDShrink are very favourable. It's managed to back up two DVD's that IC7 spat out .... and it's bl**dy quick!

    Cheers ....

  16. I use RecordNow and a Sony 500AX. I burn the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders as a data DVD burn. Now problems in 4 of 5 attempts. The lone failure so far was due to a scratch on the source DVD.

DVD shrink shows great promise. One day it may be the considered the "best in class" of ripping software.

Programs are messed up as you put it by programers. NERO has fixed some of their allinwonder software, but know issues are real on some standalones.

  18. The files with the latest nero.. 8) I did the Simpsons Season 1 disc 2...VCD quality. Guess I'll have to put fewer episodes on the disc. Would sure be nice to have a few extra compression options. 4 is too much, and 3 seems to be not quite enough...Havent tried any regular movies yet though.
