  1. Can anybody please help me.

I have been trying to go through the process of getting an Xvid file onto SVCD for the first time and seem to have fallen over at the last hurdle.

I have removed bad frames using virtualdub. I have extracted the audio file to Wav in virtualdub and have then converted the two files into one MPeg 2 file using TMPGEnc.

I then open the file in Nero Vision Express. I select SVCD (I have the plug in) I select a 35 minute section which the software advises me will fit onto 1 CD in SVCD format.

The NVE software goes through the motions of preparing the file and upon completion advises me [Nerovision Express - unable to prepare data for recording. No space left on hard disk for temporary files. Internal Error 2].

I have 10GB of space on my C drive.

I have searched this forum, the internet and the Microsoft site for answers and have done the following to try and resolve this without sucess.

I have used diskclean up to remove all unwanted files
I have defragmented the hardisk several times
I have increased the size of the virtual memory file to 4GB
I have deleted all temporary folders that I could find by searching the C drive using *tmp as the file name.
I used tweak XP to force clearance of the virtual memory upon shutdown
I tried changing the location of the cache that Nero writes the temporary files to a directory that I created on the C drive for the purpose.
I tried to convert a tiny file of just 3 minutes duration and Nero was willing to do this but would not subsequently work with my 35 minute file.

Can 1.23Gb Mpeg 2 file really need 10GB+ to convert a 35 minute section to SVCD ?

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated as I have hit a brick wall with this.

  2. Have you tried burning with Nero or NeroExpress. I not a big fan of NeroVison. I had some MPEG compliant films that NeroVision reencoded but when I burned in NeroExpress it didn't require it.

  3. I have been using Nero Vision Express because it lets me cut the film up into sections that fit onto the disk and add chapters, view the results etc.

I have not been able to find a way to do this in NeroBR or Nero Express, is there a way ?

Because I thought I could use NVE for this I have not yet explored other non Nero ways to accurately cut the Mpeg 2 up before burning each part onto a CD.

I would really like to solve the temporary files issue if I can and try to use NeroVE

However any advice would be gratefully received.
