I had to reformat my hard drive recently and spent this past weekend reloading files and programs. Now TMPGE won't work when I try to convert an AVI file and neither will Virtual Dub.
I remember this happened to me when I was first learning to use these programs. I downloaded and installed the Nimo Codec pack and these two programs worked fine....but some of my other (non-video) programs started to have trouble. I uninstalled the Nimo Codec pack and then began the long process of installing the codecs one at a time until TMPGE and Virtual Dub worked and my other programs still worked. If I remember correctly I only installed 7 to 9 of the codecs before everything worked. (I am sure a few of them were unnecessary too). That was a long time ago and I don't remember which ones they were.
Rather than go through this process again I am hoping someone can just tell me what codecs I will need to get TMPGE and Virtual Dub running. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thank you.
