  1. I tried this piece of software today, only I have one problem:
My MPG files are compliant (352x240), and I've set that resolution also for the entire DVD. Also, the framerate is 29,97, which I have also configured for the entire DVD. Now, the audio has to be converted, but when I hit "OUTPUT", 5% loads very fast, but then it starts to give the message "Converting video files..."
Is it really doing this? Or is it just converting the audio? (I really like to know because it takes a looooong time)
    Thank you.

I have the excact same problem m8.

I followed Baldrick's guide in the Author section and it cleary states that it will not convert the video, just the audio, and yet when i hit output it clearly says converting Video, now i know from previous Encode's using DVD movie factory 2 that this will take a long time.

All i'm doing is clearing up my Adult Film collection, so instead of having many VCD's i'll have about 3 to 4 DVD-r's with all the VCD's on them.

I do remember that before Movie factory 2 came along, there was a guide for the excact same procedure using SpruceUp.

  3. If you are creating a DVD with DVDMF(2) your VCD file must be mpeg 2 and 48khz audio. If you have mpeg 1 DVDWS with rerender to mpeg 2. If your aidio is 44.1 khz DVDMF will converted the 44.1 auudio to 48khz.

  4. Excuse me, but I've read in the guide that you can burn MPEG1 files, you don't have to convert them to MPEG2. Only the audio has to be reencoded (which doesn't take THAT much time, right?)

I suggest you read this first, you will see that it says that you do not have to convert MPEG2 just the change the audio.

  6. When it says "converting video", that's kind of a catch-all for everything it's doing. At that step it is converting audio and yes, it does take a while. I had a 2 hour movie take almost 5 hours to convert from 44.1K to 48K.

  7. So I waited like 4 hours! It sayed: converting video files...
And the result is: it DID convert the video files (I can see because they are MUCH "blockeyer" than the original files )... I'm 100% sure the source files are compliant! What is wrong with this program? It starts to annoy me!

Also: the font color on the first page is the one I select (yellow), but on the next menu pages it is black?? Weird...

  8. Ditto with MHG, it is clearly re-encoding the video. Takes for ever and turns them into a blocky mess.

  9. I meant to add that about the blockiness. Originally I thought it was something else I was doing and not the fact that the video was being converted.

What I started doing is just doing my captures with MF2. That way I can rest assured that the files are compliant and the whole process of authoring and burning a DVD only takes about 30 minutes. The video quality is just a little lower than some other programs I have, but not enough to warrant spending hours running conversions.

As far as the menu font colors, do a search on "Ulead menu" and you can find the solution, it's a little lengthy to type out again.

Well i sorted out my problems.

I stop using DVD Movie Factory for putting VCD's onto DVD-rs.

Instead i'm now using DVD Maestro.

First of all, load up the VCD/Mpeg1 file in TMPEGnc extract the audio to a .wav file, then demultiplex the video only from the Mpeg1 file, next convert the .wav file to an .AC3 with the 48khz, you can keep the 224kbps.

Follow any of the DVD Maestro guides that are here on this site or at doom9's site for importing, creating sync audio and video and compiling.

Then burn to DVD-r with your favorite buring software.

Which program do u use for this?
Also, it is alot effort to put these VCD's on a DVD-R? (I know I'm just f#cking lazy )
I looked at the Maestro guide and it looks so difficult to make the menus!

    Programmes Used...

TMPEGnc ............ for extracting the .wav and video .m1v

AC3Machinev0.41.... for converting .wav to .AC3

DVDMaestro..... for Authoring all the files together

Prassi Primo DVD.... for burning to DVD-r

First DVD-r i done was with 4 Adult Films on it, I didn't do any menu's, i just created chapters Manualy in Maestro, and i have all the movies playing one after the other, i'm now onto my second disc.

There are guides here on DVDrhelp, although you will have to have some working knowlage of how to use DVD Maestro in order to use them right.

Did you check the specs of the video in the DVD folders?

Hmmmmmm? I reran the test with DVD MovieFactory 2 NTSC 352 x 240 Meg 1 CBR 1150kbps. Audio was meg 1 layer 2 44.1 khz. The template NTSC DVD VBR 8000. Do not convert compliant mpeg files was checked. I created DVD folders and imported the video from the DVD folders and the file info was MPEG 2 Video CBR 1150 kbps and the audio was converted from 44.1 khz to 48 khz. In my book the video was rerendered from mpeg 1 to mpeg 2. If the audio on the mpeg 1 file was 48khz not 44.1 DVDMF did not rerender the video. When I imported the video from the DVD folders the video was mpeg 1... no rerendering.

Bottom line: With DVDMF if you want to add your vcd video to a DVD without rernedering the audio has to match the template(no audio conversion) even if you have "do not convert...checked.

This is not the first time the Ulead manual was incorrect.
