I use Smartripper to get the files onto my hard drive but even though the box is ticked for "remove region coding" when I burn the disk it is still Region One. The main reason for me doing this Is so I can watch Region one movies on my Region two standalone player (no hack available) I just want to be able to make it region free (or region 2 would do)

Any help will be gratefully recived.
    Thanks in advance

my spec (not that it will help) is
    Amd 2400+xp processore
    512 ddr ram
    Pioneer dvr-105
    Lg dvd rom
    60 gig 7200 H/d

  2. 1) Rip the full DVD (all files, in smartripper you can do this in backup mode) to your HD

    2) Run IFOEdit and open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file for the DVD

    3) Click on 'make region free' and save changes (ie. the new IFO file).

    4) Do whatever you normally do to the VOB source

Note that ANY DVD-R should be region free (after you burn it) unless you make a straight 1:1 ISO image file copy with DVD Decrypter. So just run as normal, and burning should be fine. Doesn't DVD2ONE generate a new VIDEO_TS folder to burn? [i don't use the program so...]

    YEAH ME TOO MATE!

I just ried it with JACKASS The Movie Region 1, Ripped it with Smartripper put it through DVD2ONE to get it all onto 1 DVD-R and then opened up Ifo-Edit, blah, blah, blah
Put it in my Standalone and got the old "incorrect region blah, blah" I had set to Region 2 (as I live in the UK) and saved the changes but still no deal.

DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW OF A DEFINATE WAY TO REMOVE REGION CODING FROM A RIPPED FILM?

I just seem to be repeating myself and getting the same answer each time.

  5. If Smartripper is giving you problems, try DVD Decrypter in file mode. A new version just came out recently too.

Just asmall suggestion but have you tried using dvd decrypter, there is also a small tool in this to patch ifo files to make them region free.I used to use smartripper and found the same problem with disks showing a region code but since using dvd dycrypter the problem has gone.Wont promise that it will work for you but works for me.Good luck

What he talks about is under the TOOLS heading in DVD DECRYPTER
you must process every .IFO on the disc to fully remove region coding

Also. try .IFO edit. i prefer its region freeing tool because it also asks you to replace the corresponding .bup -or BACKUPof each IFO-
In other words when IFO edit senses you've region freed the iFO,its asks you "do you want the .bup of that ifo to match it" and updates it as well-altho'
I've never had a working region free dvd revert

  10. I tried patching files with numerous versions of Ifo-edit, DVD Decrypter, and smartripper.. and nothing.. I was ready to quit and tried it my final burn in my new $58.00 Cyberhome CH-300S DVD player from RadionShack... and viola.. it worked..

Its got to be in that shoes.. i mean the player.

    Hello

No offense but I gave up on SmartRipper a LONG time ago.
If you use DVD Decrypter in either FILE mode or ISO mode it will completely remove region coding and all forms of copy protection. It does this automatically.

You only have to do it "manually" when using IFO mode.

So if you wanted to RIP a movie to then use with say DVD2ONE just use DVD Decrypter in FILE mode and make sure you SELECT ALL FILES and presto go straight to DVD2ONE no fooling around with IFOEdit etc.

On a rare occassion, DVD Decrypter won't do it all. Use IFOedit after you've ripped with DVD Decrypter. Their's a hidden RCE protection, I forget. Read the forums/guides. Only had to do it once - backing up isn't something I do a lot of. SmartRipper hasn't been the best ripper in years.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  13. ohh no.. lol. I never use Smart ripper.. I was just getting despreate as i kept seeing most that it can do this and that. Im DVD Decrypter all the way. I just used to it see what the hype was about regarding REGION FREE patching.

Was anyone able to rip a dvd to region free? I tried it a while ago but gave up. Just everytime I loaded it on my player it says REGION RES.. bla bla. but know with my new player it reads everything. I love it!
