    What it does is feed the video directly from Vdub to the encoder without creating an intermediate file, and there are several reasons to do this. If the file is very large you can run out of disk space. To preserve quality, you do not have to recompress the video when filtering, select no compression and feed it straight to the encoder. I understand people use frameserving if they are having A/V sync problems as well.
