SONY DVR500AX.ONLY WRITES AT 1X..?

CAN ANYONE HELP ME.. I have been burning at 2x for about a week or so with 2x media (white lable).but as of today i only get burn speeds of 1x..? with the same media..can anyone tell me whats going on.. thanks

hmm, did you change firmware? apparently the 2.0e firmware makes the writer burn at 1x on 1x media whereas 1.0g firmware would allow 2x (not on all the media, but much like the pioneer hacked firmware kinda does)

no i have not touched the firmware.I am using the sme software and media...burning at 2x one day 1x the next.... can ANYONE HELP.

I´ve had the same problem, both dru500ax and about two weeks later start to burn at 1x the same media (sentinel) that i used to burn at 2x, but with one small difference, either burn at 1x or it simple give an error message at the middle of the writing and ruined the dvd, i both 10 dvd´s and it ruined 7 dvd´s, i´ve update the firmware to 2.0e, and didn´t make any difference, then i moved the dru500ax to an old computer that i have with different os (win2k) and now i can burn at 2x, at least i tried one time and didn´t had problems.

Just to let anyone know that i changed my media to bulkpack 2x and every thing is fine.
