  1. this what I do when capturing a show

    - captured a show to mjpeg (quality 19) at 640x480
    - ran filters, like de-interlace and smoother in v.dub resize it to 480x360 and saved to HUFFY.
    HUFFY Stats -> 480x360, 29.97fps, audio is uncompressed 44.1 16-bit stereo

    - I then do a 2 pass vbr in divx4, and have myself a nice capture.

    recently I tried to encode a 30 sec clip from an capture to vcd and see how it looks on my tv using my hollywood+. I wasn't too impressed, so I tried a SVCD. I used TMPGEnc to make the mpeg2, I loaded the profile for SVCD(NTSC), and loaded my huffy filtered encode. the mpg encoded fine, and I just burned the mpg to a cd-rw as a data cd with just the .mpg file on the cd, it played fine on my hollywood+. When I tried make a SVCD with nero, it gives me an not complainted mpg error.

    does anyone know what the cause of this is ?

  2. I had no problems using Nero 5.5.04 to produce SVCD from TMPEGEnc v.12a working from directly from AVI files, so it will do it. Good quality too. Beginner's luck maybe?

  3. Looks like it was all nero's fault. I updated to the newest version 5.5.4.0, and it accepts the test clips I encoded. I burned a svcd with 2 30sec clips and a menu, it works fine on my hollywood+, I plan on testing it a friends dvd player just to make sure.
