  1. I've been trying to encode this movie forever! I'm wanting to encode this xvid movie to a 23.976 svcd using TMPGEnc. Here is a picture of the info on this file. If you could give me detailed information on what YOU would do to encode this file it would help A LOT. Also, please include audio stripping details.

    (sorry picture looks really bad)

    TMPGEnc; Video Tab:

    Stream type: MPEG-2 Video
    Size: 480x480
    Aspect ratio: 4:3 Display
Frame rate: 23.976 fps (internally 29.97 fps)
Rate control mode: Your choice, I would recommend 2-pass VBR(VBR)
    VBV buffer size: 112
Profile & Level: Main Profile & Main Level (MP&ML)
    Video format: NTSC
Encode mode: 3:2 pulldown when playback
    YUV format: 4:2:0
    DC component precision: 8 bits
Motion search precision: High quality (slow)

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

    3:2 pulldown when playback:

This is used when you have a FILM source movie (23.976fps), to leave it 23.976fps but have your decoder play it back at 29.97fps (works great for ripping DVDs). When 3:2 pulldown is used it does this.. It takes four sequential video frames (A, B, C, D) from the FILM and are drawn on the video display as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2, where the 1 or 2 represents the field number within the frame.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

Use Virtualdub, load your Avi, select audio- full processing mode, audio compression- no compression, audio conversion- 44.1 KHz (VCD,SVCD) or 48 KHz (DVD), save wav.

If the audio is AC3 or you get a VBR warning then use Goldwave. Load your Avi then save.

Also, before doing anything, scan and remove bad frames with VDub!
