I just purchased a Dazzle capture device. It works great capturing vhs / tv stuff to avi. Also, can convert to Mpeg-1 for vcd and mpeg-2 for SVCD. I am trying to play vcds on a phillips dvd711 player (supposed to be CDR and CDRW capable). I have nero 4.0 burner software too. What file format do most dvd player read in (Ex. *.mpg or *.mpeg)?
Is there a directory structure that i need to create on my cdr's when I copy the data files over? Can I actually create vcd's that will play on my dvd player without downloading/buying new software? Any help in doing this without menus just using a standard data CDR or CDRw would be apprieciated! Thank you!

VCD does have a set file structure...you would need some authoring software (which you can find links to on this site)
which means...you will probably need to download some stuff.
(I use Nero 5.5 which does both VCD and SVCD) -
These guides describes how to capture with a Dazzle Card to make VCD or XVCD.
check the "how to" -author on the left menu :
