Que? I've never seen any way to add subtitles with TMPGEnc. Please explain your modus operandi in greater detail.

Yes, I read your post. modus operandi=a method of operating
I was trying to explain that you have to explain how you add subtitles with TMPGEnc, as I didn't know that was possible.

  5. From what I know, there is no way to add subtitles within TMPGEnc.
You could either burn them into the video by frame serving through with vdub or create selectable subtitles with programs like subrip and mpg2mps or subrip,bbMPEG and winsubmux.
If you are having problems right now, how are you trying to do it? Is it a avi file with subs rather than dvd?

  6. oke look when you install vobsub

you automaticlly get the subs with the movie ( ofcourse gif the same name

    to the srt and avi

when i start tmpgence vobsub pops up and while enconding you see the subs in tmpgence...

but my problem is the the subs dont stay ..

    it worked before

Okay! I see. Never done it that way. The preffered method is to load the AVI in VirtualDub, use the textsub filter to add the subs, and then frame serve to TMPGEnc. I suggest you try that path. As far as I can see, this is not a TMPGEnc problem, but rather a DirectShow/VobSub problem.

Would have suggested the virtual dub route, but it's not goode enough for you, obviously. I would have looked into it some more, but your post is rather hard to follow. apologies if English is not your first language, but if it is......

Not at all! You just frame serve from VDub (or AviSynth) to TMPGEnc, and the encoding time impact is zero. Believe me (us) - The VDub (or AviSynth) route is the one to use!

  14. I am currently encoding an avi to svcd and for the first time including sub titles. As usual I refer to these forums to glean tips etc. One post caught my attention and I believe I may have found what he was seeking.

Dj_Rainaldo began this thread and was not clear on his method or his problem.

I subsequently found this post, https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=499888&highlight=srt#499888
and what Dj_Rainaldo was saying began to makes sense.

    Basically he was/is:
*using the VobSub filter ("the green arrow in the sys tray")
*could see the subs as the movie played ("you automaticlly get the subs with the movie")
*could see the subs as he was previewing with TmpgEnc ("when i start tmpgence vobsub pops up and while enconding you see the subs in tmpgence...")
*has encoded subs successfully with TmpgEnc ("it worked before)
*now is somehow losing the subs (but my problem is that the subs dont stay)

I too am looking for an easier method, other than frameserving, that produces the desired results. I followed Baldricks advice and installed the latest VobSub 2.23 filter. In TmpgEnc my Directshow Multimedia File Reader is the highest priority on the list, set at 1. I can view the subs in preview.

I will post my results after the encode completes. Hopefully all goes well and the subs are encoded throughout. If not, then I will be in the same boat as Dj_Rainaldo, looking for an answer! I do not know why he is having the problem that he is currently having. Hopefully I have shed a little more light on this and someone can add more input to help Dj_Rainaldo out.

  15. Success. The .avi and .srt files were in the same directory, latest vobsub filter installed, TmpgEnc showed subs in preview, encoded SVCD has the subs. Thanks to Baldrick for his post. I saved a lot of time over frameserving etc.

Can this be done for DVD VOBs or the d2v output of DVD2AVI that gets used in TMPGE?

How are people getting a movie as an avi that has a subtitle stream?
