why does MOVIE MAKER 2 make such a big file

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this question; why does MOVIE MAKER 2 make double the space for a project? for example I was making a dvd that was 3.4MB long ; but when I came to the image file it became 6.8 MB long wich cant fit on a media dvd wich only holds 4.7mb. I am using the demo version of this program and I was wondering whats the best program to make your own dvd's. I kinda like MOVIE MAKER because you can customize your own screen menues and back-ground music......any suggestion? thanx

my bad..its not movie maker; its movie factory 2. I think its a great software;just wondering why it does that by making a image file double the size that the original was.
