  1. MY VOTE GOES FOR "GUNSMOKE." I was the ONLY person who could beat that game in the arcade, and can still whip its ass today! My favorite NES game "METROID" all the way. What are your favorite arcade and NES games of all time?
    Quote Quote
  2. My favorite was Tempest, I could spin that bitch fast as lightning. Never played Gunsmoke though.

Love Metroid on NES, RBI 1 Baseball, and original Nintendo Golf, I could always get a hole in one on #14.

  3. what's up Johnny Quest?...yea...Tempest was the shit too, but you can't comapre that with Gunsmoke IMHO! After I was done burning out Tempest,...I used to bust up "TRON"...ya' know?
    Quote Quote
  4. Tempest: Was good but spinner control would wear out quickly.
Starwars: Sit down was the best of the three models.
Pacman: Great play time for a quarter!
Battlezone: Darn rockets and hated you could not get to those mountans!
CyberSled: Dual sit down cabinet and a friend to attack!
Astroides: Good proof you are human!
Rocky & Bullwinkle Pinball game: The funny voice lines and had good play action!

  5. I always liked Mr. Do.

  6. Mr. Do and Mr. do's Castle were the bomb..the ONLY pinball game I ever really got into was a game called "BLACK KNIGHT"..anyone ever heard of it? As far as "MAME" goes...I have damn near all of those ROMS and bust up those old school games on my PC left and right. The roms are tough to find nowadays..since MAMEDK stopped hosting them. 8)

  7. It has to be the "original" Super Mario Bros game...

you know, cause of all the "cheats" before the "internet"
came along, like hoping worlds and such, I am not
referring to the home system either...

Used to rack up a couple hundred millions points,
before i would just give up and save the princess...

  8. older games like Zaxxon and Kangeroo but i really got into the cartoon games like Dragons Lair and Space Ace....i got the gams for my PC but the quality is crap...I tried Dragons Lair for my DVD player which gave perfect graphics but the gameplay sucked having to use my remote control...i wish i could get those games for my pc except with better graphics...i would sit for hours with my friends and we'd go to town on the original Gauntlet....
    Quote Quote
  9. I used to play Scramble a lot. When it got to the point that it only took me one quarter to ply for hours, it actually got boring.

Dragons lair and Space Ace are emulated arcade perfect with all the original scenes and game play but you have to aquire the mpegs,
they availble on the net or you can get the dvd rom version of the
games and rip them your self.
You can learn more and get the emulator here
    http://www.daphne-emu.com/
You can get the dvds here
    http://www.digitalleisure.com
remember if you go this route you must get the dvd-rom version
    not the dvd-video versions

I love shooter games! Area 51 was a great arcade game, but I think I played Mortal Kombat more. Afterburner by Sega was another cool arcade game. For the NES, Mega Man 2 & 3 were very cool. As were Mario 1 & 3. Mario 2 sucked very hard. But Super C is probably my favorite. I can remember throwing my controller down so many times because of that game, while camped out in the back yard of course.

It's all about Dig Dug. Actually, my favorite was Cyberball. I don't think there's a machine left where I live. They took the last one down a few years ago.

My favorite NES game was Ice Hockey. My older brother and I used to stay up late playing against each other all the time. Balloon Fight was also great.

of the old arcade games Joust was my favorite. We even had that one at my house for a while when i was a kid along with tutankham and tempest, my moms boyfriend at the time bought them. demolition derby, choplifter, and star wars were good too. last one i played that i liked a lot was rampart. metroid was the best game ever made for NES... at least until they put Ultima on NES.

  17. I was facinated with video games. Use to hang out at the corner geocery store to watch bigger kids play. Two of my favourites are Mappy Land (don't know why, kinda stupid game come to think of it) and Wonder Boy in Monsterland. You have to work your why through the game and buy equipement. A quarter would be use to finish the game and it would take 1 and half hours. I also loved playing Pole Position. Used to finish the game and laugh at the bigger kids who can't even qualifly. Those were the days...

  19. I play all those games on the Mame Emulator, Colecovison EMU, NES EMU, SNES EMU, N64 EMU on my

    PC & Dreamcast

Its great playing Pacman, 1942, Tron, Beserk, etc... on a 36in TV.

I have 1300 Roms for the MAME EMU, games from 1978 to 2001.

  20. I used to play Scramble a lot.
Yea, I used to play that and "Vanguard" alot. Definitely great games!

    I love shooter games!
If you love Scrolling Shooter games, then you have to love "R-TYPE." That has to be the all-time greatest scrolling shooter game.....man..what a game!

As someone else mentioned...MAME is definitely amazing...I got bored of it after a while...and that's true...Crazy Climber can't really be played..or at least like it should.

    Black Tiger.
That's a friend of mines favorite game. Whenever he's over he has to jump on my pc and play it. He can destroy that game without any cheats enabled. That game was a.k.a "Black Dragon"

Elevator action was ok...I liked it, but I didn't like the fact that the game was too slow..at least for me...you could only go so fast..or should I say slow...and couldn't control the speed...but it was ok.

Anyone ever get into Track & Field? That was another one of my favorites I could just dominate for hours ontop of hours. I used to break all kinds of World Records, and didn't have to use a "comb" to cheat. Anyone remember that "comb" trick? The Arcade I used to..Konami sent out new track and field machines with "shields" around the buttons so people couldn't use the combs and hit them so hard..because they were always breaking them. I had a good trick for those shields too though.

All of you people here that know about Mame..i'm just curious..did anyone here every purchase the "HOT ROD" joystick? I was thinking about it a while back but never purchased it. Just kept my Gravis and another joystick.

  23. Bubble bobble, Wonderboy, Used to play these games with one quarter right after school and play till closing time with the same quarter, I was that damn good. Well after I wrapped B.B. three times, It was to diffucult. Miss playing old games like Ladybug, I used to clear the levels blindfolded(well with my sister covering my eyes) through out the whole level. Easy patterns. Was so hard to get in a few games of astroids. I would place my one quarter and wait and wait till all the older kids with their 10 dollar stacks of quarters to run down. My favorite game Street Fighter 2 se. I owned everybody up in anytown. Hated being called a cheater... still today I'm called a bot...

Gonna "flex" and show my age here...

    1. Bosconian ("Red alert, red alert")

    2. Sinistar ("I live!", "Run, coward!")

    3. Satan's Hollow (What good Christian would not love to harrow Hell).

And although it was not one of my favorites, this is a good thread to pay proper respects to the grandfather of all arcade games, "Pong".
    Hello.

Damn..l those are also great games. If you don't already have it, you gotta get "MAME." All 3 of those games are like 8kb's each and they are the "exact" game roms. I have all three with Mame and it's definitely enjoyable to play any of the three.

@Athlon..."Green Beret" was a damn good game too..but that was another game that was "cloned" under a different name. Actually, I think the clone was Green Beret..the original was Rush'n Attack....whadda game though!

I play tons of games on my cousins mame cabinet. Awsome idea for a project with an extra computer involved. He had all the roms up until some of these lateest releases then decide to wait a while cause there are so many big ones now.

I tried to go to MAME site. I only got a blank screen. I will try again. My wife is going to kill you if I do get on and get lost in all this nostalgia (again).

lol....uhhh ohhh..well you are DEFINITELY gonna get caught up in Nostalgia..to say the least! Man..when you see the games Mame supports you are gonna shit....you will see games you NEVER woulda though you remembered. If you need ANY help just "PM" me and I'll tell you what you need. I can send all of those "roms" mentioned above via email if necessary....

Just to mention it before anyone else does.....as long as you either "A" own the original arcade game or "B" delete the "ROMS" within 24 hours, there are no legalities in playing them on your PC. I doubt many will own all the games they play, so just make sure you delete them in 24 hours...ok...

@flaystus....when you say "cabinet" did your friend purchase one of those custom cabinets made specifically for MAME? I saw them but they were pricey...a couple of grand...if so, that sounds COOL AS HELL!

Actually if you have the tools around already you can build one yourself for just a few hundred using an old pc you already have an an old TV if ya already have one lying around. In his case he has a very nice setup with volume control, a 5 button over 5 button layout that should support ANY game, control buttons along the top, and even a big trackball in the center for games that need it. its very nice and runs very well. Do a little googling you'll find alot of info on it.
