I am undecided on whether to buy a Sony DRU 500AX or a Pioneer A05. The reviews on for both drives on this website are mixed. The Sony DRU 500AX is proving a nightmare to find in the uk. I have only found 1 place with one in stock and it was at a rip off price. I have done a search on sony's website for the DRU 500AX but I can't find it (I used sony's search engine)?
The only thing putting me off buying the pioneer A05 is that I read on a forum (but forget where) that burned discs from a pioneer A05 will not play in any current sony dvd player. Is this true? Does anybody know anywhere in the uk with a Sony DRU 500AX in stock at a decent price? The best price I have found for the Sony DRU 500AX is £251 with (VAT and P&P included) at www.dabs.com problem is it will be 1st June before they can supply me with one.
Should I just forget the Sony DRU 500AX and buy the Pioneer A05? I have a sony DVD player so don't want an A05 if my burned discs will not play.

Now then my friend! I have a Pioneer A-05 and have made back-up copies of films that work on my friends Sony DVD Player
The discs that i use are called Superior and they are a 2 speed GEN 4 disc.
At the moment they are £110 per hundred or £29 per 25.I have also found that they are good on my JVC and Dansai players and from general people that i have spoken to they basically work with anything that you throw them in!!!
Hope that helps you 8) 8)Same Dance,Different Disco!!
