  1. If you have an MPEG file how do you tell if it is an MPEG1 or MPEG2 file? I would like to convert an MPEG I got from MPEG to SVCD. Is there any other ways other than those specified in the How To seciton that would be best?

if it is already an SVCD MPEG2, then it will be at a resolution of 480X480(NTSC) or 480X576(PAL) anything else and it's not an SVCD compatible MPEG, so it will need re-encoding, so follow the guides.
