  1. I have a few questions about the possibilities of WinDVD (or any other PC DVD software for that matter!).

Here's my situation; I'm a manager of a building which has its own seperate TV channel on which we play DVD's for all the people in this building.

Now I have a computer set up with a DVD player, with which we'd like to play these DVD's.

We need the DVD's to play at a certain time and to start automatically playing the main movie.

I'm now trying WinDVD, and it has some handy options like the default language and subtitle settings. But the thing is that if WinDVD starts, it will automatically start playing the DVD but still first go to the menu, from which you have to choose the language and subtitles. When I then stop playback and restart the movie (without closing the program itself) WinDVD then doés skip the menu and start playing the main movie immidiatelly with the default language and subtitle settings I set in the configuration.

The DVD's that will be played have never been in the DVD player before (they're rented each month) in case you need to know. So in case the program can remember DVD's it's played before or something; that doesn't work.

So the functions I still need, and haven't been able to figure out are:

    - after startup of WinDVD autoplay the DVD and start the main movie with the choosen language and subtitle settings (autostart fullscreen option I have already found). So skip the menu!
    - Exit WinDVD on the end of the movie
    - always on top function (is this possible?)
    - start WinDVD at specified time (timer function) (this is an optional request, but can also be done with a seperate freeware program)

Would these things be possible with command line options or something?

I'm now trying this with WinDVD because it seems to have the most options of the DVD software I've seen, but if anyone knows of different program that would do all these things...please let me know!

I know I'm asking for a lot of functions here....but I can't be the only one who would like to see this possible...right?

    Thnx in advance you guys!

  3. I have the same problem, WinDvd is dumb as nails when it comes to getting it to do something automatically. you cant even double click on a playlist file and have it start playing the files in the playlist.
I have searched the net and found no information on command line parameters, if you come across them please let me know.
Get a program called Zoom Player, it is a totally configurable dvd player that has more options then you know what to do with. The reason I cannot use it is because if the mpg or vob file you play has ONE little blip or glitch, it will stop playing, WinDvd just runs right over any errors. I have a remote system to play movies, so its very frustrating when the Zoom Player stops right in the middle of a movie because of a little blip in the file.

    Thanks

  4. Sorry for the (very) late reply, but I didn't have time before to test this Zoom Player and see what it does.

It does have a shit load more options then the standard DVD program has, and it does work a lot better then any other program I've tested so far. But it still doesn't skip all menu's in any DVD I've tested. I did skip two out of five I think, but that still leaves three DVDs where it simply stopped at the menu, and didn't start the main movie without me having to do anything. But this program does definitely have the most potential, and it has command line options, which is very handy.

I'm going to look into it a bit more.

    Thnx for the hint
