  1. when ever i put my vcd that i made with ezcd creator 5 in my Sony dvd/vcd player it says "no cd" because the cd was burnt instead of the actual thing. is there a file or something that i can put on the cd that will trick the vcd player into playing it?
    thanks,

  2. What is your DVD player's model? And have you tried to play burned music CD's with your player? If player doesn't recognize music CD-Rs, then the player is not able to play most of CD-Rs.
    I have Sony's DVPS-735D and it doesn't accept normal CD-R discs EXCEPT (at least) That's Write!'s 80min CD-R discs.
Also try RW discs. Those should be recognized by the player with no problem.
Check this site's DVD players compatibility list also!

Another thing you can do is change the burning speed...
From what I've tried... Burning on higher speeds than 4x can affect compatibility...

This may be a stupid question, but can you just use an unformatted CDRW disk instead of an empty CDR? I have Roxio and it didn't seem to like my unformatted CDRW when I went to burn my VCD. In fact, I couldn't eject the CDRW until I powered off my PC and got out a paper clip to manually eject it. Maybe it just wasn't sitting in the tray correctly, or maybe DirectCD was interfering with it. I haven't had a chance to retry it.

  5. nusa:
Do not use any direct CD program (ie. roxio) to author your VCD/SVCD's. VCD's and SVCD's use special directory and file structure. I would suggest that you try NERO burning ROM (see tools section). It's shareware and it works 30 days; and there is VCD template which you can use. And when you select which MPEG to burn, program checks whether it is valid VCD/SVCD or not (correct video/audio bitrate, framerates etc.).
Before using it, make sure that roxio direct CD is turned off.
I haven't used ezcd creator 5 (whatever) but there should be similar template to use.

    I hope this helps!
