  1. I installed ATI MultimediaCenter 8 and now I can't copy many VHS tapes. A message pops up saying they are protected. I knew that this was part of MMC 8 but figured someone would come up with a hack. Any Yet?

(p.s. I am only interested in backing up tapes that I own)

Revert to a previous version. Or buy a time-base corrector. Anyway, I'd have to say I wasn't happy with MMC 8 anyhow. I went back to 7.5.

  3. Most likely it's not MMC8.1 but the drivers loaded. Ther is a patch for the drivers that helped with my WIN2000 drivers for an AiW 128 Pro. Should hopefully also work with newr cards / drivers.
    go to

    www.doom9.org

Look under "Download" "Support Utils" and expand to "show all support utils". Here is the ATIMacrovisonRemover.

  4. Thanks both of you. Luckily coppervids suggestion worked. I was aware of the macorovision patch but I thought I was dealing with something new since I never had my computer refuse to copy a tape before.

    Thanks

  7. It works the same way for ALL versions of MMC as not MMC prevents recording from Macrovision protected material but the Windows drivers. Just apply the same patch as recommended before.
