  1. My 1st post, i hope this is in the right forum. Here's my story. I bought the Cendyne 4x dvd-r and 20 kHypermedia dvd-r's for testing. I have successfully backed up some dvd5's that are small enough to fit on 1 dvdr using dvddecryptor(rip to iso and then burn). These fill the entire disc and work perectly. My problem comes up when i try to author an mpg. Any movie i author that is more than say 3gb will start to get choppy and eventualy cut out(on standalone, works fine in pc) I have tried different variations of many different apps. I have had better luck using Tmpgenc to make the mpg, Ulead dvdmf2 for the authoring(make iso) and dvd-decryptor to burn. but still i get the cutting out at the end of my 3 gig movie. I have also successfully converted some vcd's by changing the audio and leaving the video the same since its dvd compliant, but the end result is a 2-3gb movie(i have to use pcm audio for my standalone). So, i dont suspect the kHypermedia blanks since i had success with 1 to 1 copies. Maybe its the tmpgenc or the authoring? or maybe the burner? Im not sure what to try next. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I purchased the same Cendyne and first media Khypermedia at Officemax about 1 month ago. That media (at least what I got) was no good. Out of the 10, I have 2 that work completely. The larger the movie the worse, it would freeze in standalone (Apex) and Cendyne usually towards the end of the movie. I started to turn on the "verify" in Nero, and many didn't even verify after burning.

However the same occurred with Imation DVD-R, then the next one was OK, the 3rd (3-pack) I haven't used yet. The COMPUSA media (recently $9.99 for 10), I have tried 2 and both worked. The -RW that came with the burner I have erased and re-used probably 25 times with no problems.

Also I have the Apex, not sure if same model, and I author with MP2 audio all of the time. I use DVDdecryptor, TMPGenc or DVD2One, IFOedit to author (if used TMPGenc), and NERO to burn.

I am suspecting the media from my experience. Also you can upgrade the firmware now to version 1.30, I found it at the Pioneer website (Japan's I think but written in English). Updated firmware is supposed to make these more media compatible.
