I'm trying to burn an MPEG-2 file onto DVD and am having serious audio sync problems. It starts off fine, but gradually drifts until it is 2-3 seconds before the video. I've tried Ulead DVD and Cyberlink Power Directory Pro. Both have the same problems.
The MPEG-2 file plays perfect in PowerDVD.
Any ideas?

This sounds like it could be an NTSC-->PAL or PAL-->NTSC problem. What format is your source material and what format DVD are you trying to create?

The source is a NTSC MPEG-2 file created by PowerDirector Pro 2.5. The ORIGINAL source was various MPEG-2 files off my ReplayTV. I'm trying to create a regular NTSC DVD on a DVD+RW.
I just tried NeoDVD last night with the same results.
ReplayTV MPEGS --> PowerDirector Pro 2.5 --> MPEG-2 file --> {Ulead DVD|Cyberlink DVD Wizard|NeoDVD} --> Out of Sync DVD -
What is ReplayTV ? Is it a hard disc video recorder? If so, I guess you will be recording from a NTSC TV source. If this is the case I'm not sure what the problem could be, but I think I remember seeing a guide on this site explaining how to sort out your problem

I use Powerdirector also and that seems to be trouble. I believe it trble with the sample on the audio capture. I've been able to pull the audio almost into sync by changeing the sample rate on the audio. It a small amout off about 50hrtz or so. someone said that the sample rate on a capture is controlled by the audio card. so it possibly have something to do with that. Do a search in the forum for "audio sync" there is some forums that explain it better than I can. I still haven't figured out a complete fix for it.

So why does the raw MPEG-2 file play perfectly? That's what has me befuddled.... :P

I'm having the exact same problem... sounds like a very similar setup. I'm trying to edit .mpg's taken off my Replay using DV Archive and edit out the commercials using PowerDirector (v1.1). The editing is excellent and fast and the resulting .mpg plays just fine.
However, trying to author to DVD using Ulead DVD Workshop, the result has the audio synch off by about 1 - 2 seconds towards the end. Happens regardless of if I burn direct to disk or crease a image file or folders.
Any suggestions / fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Success.
I used a demo of Womble to correct the PTS errors (thousands of them) and cut the commercials. Then I used DVD Lab to create chapters and menus. I now have a commercial-free DVD complete with chapters. -
How and where did you find a demo copy of Womble MPEG2VCR that works on the replay mpeg2 files. The only demo I could find on the Womble site was for the mpg1 editor.
Would appreciate any help...
Thanks !!
