Problem converting ASF to MPEG using TMPGenc

I cannot convert ASF files to MPEG files using TMPGenc. Every time I attempt to do so I receive an error in the program telling me it will close. The error is in modname "mp43mod.dll".

I am currently running Windows XP Professional with ALL updated patches.

Here is what I have done this far.

1) Tried updating to latest TMPGenc to see if this would work-- same error occurs. I am using version 2.58.44.158.

2) Tried using VirtualDub 1.3c to extract AVI file and then convert using TMPGenc. Same problem occurs even I use the extracted AVI from VirtualDub.

3) Used ASFTools v.3.1 to try and repair file-- same result when trying to convert using TMPGENC.

Does anyone have any other suggestions. I'm out of ideas. Thanks.

Your ASF file is most likely corrupt. In the tools section of this fine site, you will find some asf repair tools, and I believe there's a guide or two related to this topic. It's most likely a corrupt asf file, so try repairing it first. 8)

if you have windows media player 9 then it won't load it will crash tmpeg everytime.

So if I simply uninstall Windows Media Player 9 it will fix the problem?
