Huh? Heard that CD and DVD blank media companes were stop making blanks to help the record and movie companies to solve the rampant piracy problem one in for all. Also will start producing a "stealth kamakazi CD or DVD blank disk" that will shread, catch fire and blow up a drive when you put one in to remove that last problem of digital copy. All insurance policies will be secretly modified with a clause that any damage cause by these "disk" WILL not be covered!
All various industry groups will switch over to mfg blank white vinyl 33 1/3 size analog only disk with all drive companies making Analog only burnners. Problem is the wear and tear on read/write heads and media. So they will make them tech chanagable only. So they can bring into a secure location to verify that the drive has not been altered or modified by end user. This new tech based on the advance CED Selectavision { Capacitance Electronic Discs } system. CED is pioneered by RCA.
Also standalone video and audio player will start using this new technowledge with the phase out of stamped pre-recorder media with the recall of all CD, DVD and VHS video tape.

Want a great wind chime ? Just get a DVD-R writer and all the coasters you have can be used as the hanging chimes....
As a DVD+R worshipper, I never get the chance since MY DISK's WORK without changing firmware or whatever on a reqular basis..Imagine that ?
LOL
Just pulling the chain back from the DVD-R worshippers -
Can hardly wait untill the CED based disk take over. All will be unified!
No more + or - but bliss!
They have anounced they will switch back to either a heavy reinforced fiber recycle material or a super size Standard CD style case.

Actually, I guess I will be glad ALSO as long as :
1) They are backwards compatible to both formats
2) They don't cost like a plasma display out of the box...
I would not be too itchy for a new format. Will take years before we see change. The market NEver just throws out there stuff and goes new. Thats for us techie dweebs.
question is, will you use
heavy reinforced fiber + or - ??? -
The only problem is the disk 12" diameter and the spoil when you write to a disk. Will include a small door to dump this wast.
At 12" there is a major limit on x times on spinning the disk. Heard to erase the disk it spins up to around 10000x and the disk shreads very well. This will be used this to revoke playback if you dont pay for a pay-per view disk or for some companies to destruct for there limited release.
The fiber storage container will have a semi-round polly-bag to allow ingress and egress form the fiber sleve for the media for the "gold" disk. The spine is pritty thin and has very small text but at 12 x 12 both sides can handle art very well.
They are not sure on the CD case since it takes three hands to open it. and can crush any small pet if droped on them. But does also have the almost 12 x 12 area for art and 1/4 inch spine.
