I captured a DVD from my standalone using the Pinnacle Linx USB Plus. I used the S-Video cable and componite audio plugged into my sound card. I captured and burned using Sonic MyDVD. It plays fine on my PC but when I try to play it on my standalone it doubles the picture. When I fastforward it, the video looks fine. IS there anything I can do or anything I did wrong with capturing and/or burning?
Thanks!

Did you de-interlace the video? DVD requires Interlaced Video.

I don't know I just assumed the program would do everything i need to burn. If it didn't, how would I go about doing that?

It sounds to me like you have the field order wrong. If you did an analog capter, it's probably field B. Then when you made the Mpeg-2, you probably made it field A. The final video has to be the same field order as the capture in order to play corectly on a TV. On a computer it is irelevent becouse it is played as progersive scan.

ACtually being new to this I have no idea what field A and field B are. I didnt see anything like that when I captured or burned. Is that on programs other than MyDVD?

You'll have to look in the capture setting to see what the field order is. If it creates an AVI w/a Field-B, Then when you encode to Mpeg-2, you'll have to check the settings to make sure it is Field-B. Likewise if it is Field-A. Check the documentaion of you video programs for correct settings.

Why don't you try a different burning program. I don't think My DVD is that good. Try Ulead DVD Movie Factory, very easy to use. They have a try before you buy d/l. Also they have Video Studio 7 (just upgraded), very good but cost a little more. You can also d/l a trial version also.
