Hey guys and gals, another dumb question. Im ripping and burning alot of movies these days and sometimes will test the quality of them by burning to CDRW first. Ive noticed that the A/V is out of sync, and is wondering if this is possible due to it being its on CDRW and the standalone is having "technical diffuculties" keeping up?

Movie encoded 2pass VBR, avg 2200.
    Standalone, Sony DVP-NS400D

    Thanks!

Sounds unlikely. Many players that's not CD-R compatible, might work with CD-RW - never heard of the opposite. CD-RW often has a lower write speed - not at all related to read speed. But the avg bitrate is a bit highish - what's your max video bitrate, and your audio bitrate?

    thanks for the reply mats,

i forget what average bitrate was, about 2200. min 300, max 2520. audio at 64 ... i have copied all of my movies this way so far (about 15-20) and there seems to be no problems from the ones ive watched (about 10). any of this make sense to your "theory"?

Well, you seem to be well inside specs for SVCD, but your heading says VCD? Then you're way off the mark, and all kind of strange stuff may happen. Then again, your stand alone might have problems with CD-RW - Who knows? But if it's just a sync issue, then media doesn't sound like the main suspect. Try lowering the bitrate to round 2200 max V+A, and see what happens.
