  1. I have a xvid file that (i know you've heard plenty of this) I can just not do absolutely nothing with one problem or another with the conversion and the fourcc thing to change to divx is beyond me as well as that did nothing but mess it up worse.

So what I am trying now is to convert the xvid file to divx with vdub and was just wondering if its basically just changing the format why is the file so huge? The original file is like 633 mb the file after being converted to divx with vdub is like 1700 mb. And Im just guessing but I dont think im gonna be able to fit that on once cd

    try using a lower bitrate.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

  3. Use the same bitrate that was used on the XviD.

Its better to not re-encode, so try this first.

Get vdub_mp3_freeze, because alot of downloaded movies have VBR audio.

In vdub, goto file > open video file...

In this menu, make sure "popup extended open options" is checked on.

Now in the popup menu, check "Re-derive keyframe flags" on.

    This may take a while.....

Okay now, goto video > scan video stream for errors.

Write down all the bad frames and delete them like this.
Goto the very last bad frame (with the goto frame in the edit menu)
Then press, goto next keyframe, then hit the "mark out" button,
Then press, goto previous keyframe button, then hit the mark in button,
Now goto delete selection, in the edit menu.

Do this for every set of bad frames.

Okay. Now goto video > direct stream copy.
and Audio > direct stream copy.

    Now save the avi.

This has never failed to fix a corrupt avi file for me.

    Hope this helps.

  4. If your XviD is not curropt, try getting ffdshow, install it, and use it to play your xvids.

    Good Luck.

  5. well thanks for the advice and suggestions but I think im just done with these two files,, I give up trying to convert to something I can put on a cd, after trying your tips divxexpert both movies error out with an unknown error (-100) and while trying to convert over to divx with vdub they errored out also, so I'm guessing that the files are just bad somewhere Just dont understand why they can both play in windows just fine and with great quality. but o ' well thanks for the info it will help in the future.
