  1. I finally got a good quality avi capture from my vcr, but somehow my sound isn't so great. It's not as loud as my original source, I mean only half as loud, so I wonder if it's a problem or it's normal. Before capturing, I check the sound meter in VirtualDub and it does go up almost full bar when the source is playing but the capture file issn't as loud as the original tape. I got a SB live gamer and I got my VCR audio Left and Right channel hooked up into a 3.5 mm mini stereo plug and then into my line in on the sound card. If I do anything wrong, please help. How do you adjust the line in recording volume?

  2. I have the same sound card and in the volume control/properties/recording I select "line in" then set the volume for that to about 3/4 and the audio comes out perfect every time.

  3. Can I ask how you hook up your two audio channels from the vcr into the card? What plug do you use? Under control/properties/recording, I only have these options:
MIDISynth, Analog Mix, CD Digital, "What U Hear", Microphone, Wave/MP3

speaking of this, i had the same problem awhile ago...

but for some reason i found it was recording the audio through my webcam!!! and not the line in! so when i was watching the movie while it recorded, it was taking the audio played out from my speakers, and recorded through the webcam!

so now i just unplug my web cam everytime i record, and it works perfect... strange things happen!

    Syndrome

  5. I found that out this morning too, the web cam does record sound too. Still, how do I increase my recording sound level? Under the prperties/recording, when I adjust the "what u hear" slide bar, the volume does increase, but I can't get it to go as loud as the original --not even close!
