Problem playing DVD+R/DVD+RW on a Pioneer 434 Player

I have authored both +R and +RW disc using the latest DVDit
and Power Director Pro. All the discs can be played on an Apex 1200.
But when I put the disc in to Pioneer 434 player (which is supposed
to be compatible with +R/RW disc), the player display indicates Menu
but there is no video nor menu background music. If I press play,
the title indicator just keeps on blinking, again no video nor music.
Does any body know what might be wrong? The discs only contain
2 menu pages with chapter points pointing into 1 movie.
