I know I saw this in Luke's manual but cannot find it now.
Captured video from my VCR and hit the 'record' button on my capture software too soon so it also captured the VCR 'tape status' info i.e. Play, Hour, Min, Sec, Time of Day, Day of Week, which remains onscreen for 2-3 seconds.
Isn't there a way to remove those artifacts that are inserted by the VCR player?

Why not just start playing and recording a few seconds earlier?

Right you are! I learned my lesson for the NEXT time.
However, this 'burn' is already done and the tape is no longer available. The question remains, any way to remove those artifacts? -
The problem is that the artefact is not just superimposed onto the background, it takes the place of what's behind it. So any work-around is going to be messy and will still draw attention. Bite the bullet and keep the artefact.

Rob
p.s. you mean you don't 'own' the original?
