problem with tmpgen

Hello,

I'm relatively new at this so apologies if this obvious!

I've got a divx/avi file that nero wont convert and save as a vcd.

Tmpgen loads the file and will convert it but there is no audio, so I extracted the audio with virtualdub but when I load the video file and then extracted audio file into tmpgen and convert I only get the audio and no picture!

I have the latest divx codecs!

any suggestions?

you need the mpeg-4 codec for media player

where do i get the mpeg-4 codec? i've doenloaded the divx 5 bundle but still no joy, realplayer plays the file fine, but windows media player wont play (unsurported file format!)

In your TMPGEnc settings, what is the priority of the Direct Show setting?

it was a minus figure either -1 or -2 but ive changed it it 0,1 and 2 but no luck

thanks, did that said it wasnt valid file type,

it turns out its a asf file, so after searching the forums i loaded the file into vdub and went to save as avi hey presto nero will now convert file into vcd!

BUT audio out of synch! used vdub to extract audio and used tmpgen with the extracted audio+converted asf file to convert to mpg! new file works perfect, nero converts to vcd, super job!
